Taking more of a treatment often increases harms without increasing how much it helps.
It may seem to make sense that if a treatment is helpful, more of it may be even more helpful. However, increasing the dose or amount of a treatment often increases the harm it may cause, without increasing how much it helps. You can have “too much of a good thing”.
For example, vitamin D is essential for health, but too much of it can damage your bones, heart, and kidneys. Similarly, too much of most medicines can be harmful.
BEWARE of claims that taking more of a treatment is better just because a treatment is believed to be helpful.
REMEMBER: More is not necessarily better.
